Was für ein Wochenende! Die beiden Wild Cards für den wichtigsten Wakeboard und Wakeskate Contest der Welt, O’Neill Wake The Line – Freestyle Wakeboard Worlds 2011 stehen fest: Kaeson Suyderhoud/USA (Wakeboard) und Simon Powell/GBR (Wakeskate).
Langenfeld/Köln, 12. Juni 2011. 72 Riders kamen zur Qualifikation während dem WakeUp Camp in Langenfeld/Deutschland aus der ganzen Welt (u.a. Brasilien, Süd-Afrika und USA) angereist, um sich in der Relentless Stairset Session am Silas Thurman Signature Obstacle von UNIT Parktech und dem Sesitec System 2.0 in die Wake-Elite zu shredden. Denn die begehrten Startplätze beim prestigereichsten Contest der Szene O’Neill Wake The Line sind nach wie vor limitiert, und nur die weltbesten Rail-Rider am Cable und Boot werden überhaupt ins legendäre Stadionbad am kommenden Samstag, 18. Nach einer grandiosen Qualifikation am Nachmittag mit vielen Rail-Tricks wurde so der unique HDPE-Stairset-Gigant von UNIT Parktech optimal auf Betriebstemperatur poliert – bereit fürs Finale. Nun steht das 24-köpfige Fahrerfeld:
Im Finale der Relentless Stairset Session Wakeboard konnte sich Kaeson Suyderhoud aus den Staaten mit Lipslides am Downrail und Bluntslides an der Ledge gegen Nico Kauzner durchsetzen. Dieser konnte mit seinen stylischen Nosepresses, wie man sie aus dem Snowboarden kennt, die Judges nur für Rang 2 überzeugen. Bereits in der Qualifikation zeigte Kaeson Suyderhoud eine sehr gute Performance und war so im Finale einfach nicht zu schlagen. Kaeson wird derzeit als einer den besten Rail-Fahrer gehandelt. Damit hat er sich verdient seinen Startplatz für O’Neill Wake The Line gesichert und nahm überglücklich die Wild Card in Empfang: „Ich bin extra für die Stairset Session von Californien nach Deutschland geflogen, um mich für Wake The Line zu qualifizieren. Der Contest in Köln bedeutet mir sehr viel, daher habe ich das finanzielle Risiko auf mich genommen.“
Nicht weniger sensationell: im Wakeskate landete Simon Powell aus Manchester einen perfekten BS Shuvit und verwies damit den Lokalmatador Tim Schwiertz mit einem cleanen BS 180 auf Rang 2. Die Judges waren sich sicher, dass dieses junge Talent einen Platz in der Weltelite bei O’Neill Wake The Line verdient hat. Absolut Happy über den Gewinn der Wild Card, blickt Simon mit voller Vorfreude auf das kommende Wochenende in Köln: „Der Contest in Köln ist absolut einzigartig und das Wakeboard-Highlight diesen Sommer, und ich bin bim mit am Start, wie gut kommt das denn!“
Das diesjährige Setup im legendären Stadionbad verspricht einiges an Action. Feinste Obstacles made by UNIT Parktech locken nun zum vierten Mal die weltbesten Rider nach Köln. Am Freitag, den 17. Juni findet das erste Freie Training im Stadionbad statt. Einen Tag später öffnen sich dann für alle Zuschauer ab 16.00Uhr die Tore zum Wakeboard und Wakeskate Highlight des Jahres.

Langenfeld/Cologne, June 12th, 2011: What a weekend! The two wild cards for the most important wakeboard and wakeskate contest in the world, O‘Neill Wake The Line - Freesetyle Wakeboard Worlds 2011 - are now taken: Kaeson Suyderhoud/USA (wakeboard) and Simon Powell/GBR (wakeskate).
72 riders around the world got round to the qualification event that went down in the course of WakeUp Camp in Langenfeld/Germany to shred their way up into the wake elite at the Relentless Stairset session on the Silas Thurman signature obstacle made by UNIT Parktech and the Sesitec System 2.0.
For the hot tickets for the most prestigious contest of the scene O‘Neill Wake The Line are still limited and only the world‘s best rail cable and boat riders are being invited into the legendary stadium pool this coming Saturday, June 18th, to battle for the wakeboard crown. After a terrific qualification round in the afternoon with lots of Rail Tricks the unique HDPE- Stairset gigant by UNIT Parktech got polished ideally to working temperature, well-prepared for the final. Now the 24-strong rider list is set:
In the final of the Relentless Stairset session in the category wakeboard Kaeson Suyderhoud from the States could come out on top over Nico Kauzner with lipslides at the down rail and bluntslides at the ledge. He was able to impress the judges with his stylish nose presses, which you might know from snowboarding, but he could only score the runner-up spot.
Already in the qualification Kaeson Suyderhoud presented a very good performance and was just not beatable in the finals. At the moment Keason is being fancied as one of the best rail riders. For this reason he has deservedly secured his ticket for O'Neill Wake The Line and delightedly accepted his wild card: “ I specifically came from California to Germany so that I could qualify for Wake The Line. The contest in Cologne means a lot to me, so I took the financial risk to come here.“
Not less sensational: In the category wakeskate Simon Powell from Manchester scored a perfect BS Shuvit and finally, with a clean BS 180, made local hero Tim Schwiertz fall into second place. The judges were sure that this young talent well deserved a spot amongst the world elite at O'Neill Wake The Line. Absolutely stoked about the win of his wild card Simon now looks forward to the coming weekend in Cologne: “ The contest in Cologne is truly unique and the wakeboard highlight of this summer, and I am part of it! How great is that?!“
This year's setup at the legendary stadium pool in Cologne promises a lot of action. Finest obstacles made by UNIT Parktech attract the world's best riders to come to Cologne for the fourth time already. On Friday, June 17th, the first free practice session will go down at the stadium pool. One day later at 4 PM the doors open for all spectators to witness the wakeboard and wakeskate highlight of the year.
